Robert Harris

Born in 1950, Robert Harris grew up in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and was soon captivated by Sydney’s creative lifestyle and surfing culture.

Robert then spent his 20's in Central Australia and then North Queensland painting, sketching and again surfing. He has always been fascinated with nature, the ocean and animals/birds, in particular birds of prey and falconry. Alice Springs gave him that experience.

Between 1980 and 2000, Robert was commissioned extensively for Australian Bird Studies and Landscapes throughout the South Coast of NSW. His latest works since 2017 have been inspired by endangered species. His hope is to draw focus on and highlight the dilemma for elephants, rhinos and helmeted hornbills, which are poached for either so called "medicinal purposes" or sadly, for ornamental carved trophies driven by the wealthy.

No matter the origin and subject of his work, Robert's hope is to simply inspire interest and thought.
